DIPA 2020-21 Team RED Mini Sessions – Saturday Sept 26th

Josh Brewster Photography will be offering mini dance portrait session to the DIPA dancers THE DAY BEFORE the team photoshoot.   Like last year, photos will be shot on a red background!

NOTE: There will be NO mini sessions offered the day of the Team Photoshoot, as I have to get out of town as soon as possible Sunday evening.  Only Saturday sessions will be offered.

Two lengths of sessions will be offered (5-Minutes and 15-Minutes). Dancers can do as many poses, action shots, leg holds, arabesques and leaps as they can fit into the time slot they have reserved. The dancers can bring in props (stools/chairs for posing, fabric for tossing) and can change outfits (though they should master the quick change).

FAQ

  • Q: How do I prepare for my shoot?
A: Prepare a good list of dance poses to photograph; this is the most important thing. You or your dancer knows their abilities the best, so make sure the photos you want to capture are things you can perform well. Also check out my photoshoot guide.
  • Q: Can I sign up for multiple time slots?
A: Only the 15-Minute sessions can be scheduled back to back. This is if you really want to try some interesting moves, have multiple costume changes, play with fabric, go on pointe, etc. You will need to reserve and pay for two time slots. If you want to get the high resolution upgrade, you will only need to upgrade for one.
  • Q: Can I change costumes mid-shoot?
A: Yes, but know that this will cut into your shoot time, so either make sure it is a quick change or sign up for multiple slots
  • Q: What time slot should I sign up for?
A: If you have a young dancer and want to document them in their recital costumes,
then the 5 Minute session will be best to get a small but good number of photos to help you remember and document this time of their lives. If you your dancer is more experienced and wants to try to get some mid-air leaps and show off their flexibility, then the 15-Minute Session is probably the best bet. 20 minutes can really fly by, so it goes faster than you would expect.
  • Q: I have two kids in dance, can they both sign up for one time slot?
A: Yes. We will want to make sure each kid gets equal individual time… fair is fair after all.
  • Q: Can I get a headshot while you are at it?
A: No, this shoot is completely focused on full body action poses.
